Front Of Church

The Feast of the Entry of the Theotokos into the Temple is celebrated on December 4.  On this day, we remember how Saints Joachim and Anna joyously brought the three-year-old Mary to the Temple, fulfilling their vow to dedicate their daughter to the service of God. The Virgin Mary grew up in the pious community surrounding the Temple, reading Holy Scripture, praying, and deepening her love of God. In the troparion we sing, “The Virgin appears in the temple of God, in anticipation proclaiming Christ to all.”

On December 19, we celebrate St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.  The pious parents of St. Nicholas also vowed to dedicate their son to the service of God, and he showed his future as a wonderworker from infancy.  Through his prayers and intercession, many were saved.  He led his flock with kindness, helped those in need, and gave his inheritance to the poor. We sing, “O Father and Hierarch Nicholas, intercede with Christ God that our souls may be saved.”

St. Nicholas Day is also the 36th anniversary of the ordination of Father Rostyslav, the Rector of our Parish.  We congratulate Father and pray that God may grant him many years!
