On October 28, our parish members and friends said farewell to Heirodeacon Gorazd who departed to the Lord on October 23, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born in Bratislava, Slovak Republic, Dimitri Kamolov spent his career in miliary service in the US Air Force and in the US Federal Civil Service. He was ordained to the Diaconate in 1995 and started his decades-long service to Holy Trinity Church. In 1997, Deacon Dimitri was granted the right to wear a double orarion, and in 2010 he was elevated to the rank of protodeacon. In 2017, Archbishop Peter (Loukianoff) of Chicago and Mid-America tonsured Protodeacon Dimitri as a monk, giving him the name Gorazd.
We will remember Father Gorazd’s faith, kindness, and service to God and our church. He taught us through his thoughtful sermons and outreach to church visitors. He bestowed his love and friendship upon all our parishioners, but he held a special affection for children—for each of them, he always had a kind smile and a gentle word. Even as age made it difficult for him to serve at liturgies, he continued to participate in church services through his prayers while receiving the greetings and good wishes of our parish family. We will greatly miss his prayers and his presence.
“Give rest to the soul of Thy servant, where there is neither sickness nor sorrow, and no more sighing, but life everlasting.” May the Lord receive Father Gorazd into the ranks of those who serve the Heavenly Liturgy—until we meet again in the House of our Heavenly Father!
